Looking for a way to help out, but house already overflowing with fosters? Offering to provide transport for a needy animal is a great way to participate in the saving of lives. Join the Best Friends Network by e-mailing bfnetwork@bestfriends.org if you might someday be able to help a dog like Jasmine.

Safe Haven in a War

Jasmine, a lovely black Lab mix, thought she was safe and sound after being adopted on her very last day at a humane society in Washington state.

But her roommate adopters, Juanita and Shannon, are both in the military. Shannon was sent to South Korea. And then Juanita was suddenly called to "immediate active duty," with 48 hours to relocate the dog, pack up everything, and report!

Jasmine had nowhere local to go. Juanita's nearest family was in Ohio. How does one get a dog from Washington to Ohio ASAP? That's where transport volunteers can be life savers.

Jasmine did make it to Ohio, and all is well! But this is the sort of instance when stepping in to be a transport volunteer can really make all the difference in the world to a pet... and the people who love her.
